From the makers of the World of Warcraft trading card game comes a title that features both classic roleplay elements and strategic battles. Venturing through dungeons will grant you additional cards that can be customized or sold to other players.
Every gamer has his or her favorite genre: While some practically live for partaking in strategic battles, others prefer delving into fantasy worlds and leveling up characters that they have come up with. In an attempt to unite different kinds of players, Cryptozoic Entertainment is releasing a new client-based title. HEX: Shards of Fate can be categorized as a combination of MMORPG and TGC, aiming to innovate the way Massively Multiplayer Online Roleplaying Games and Trading Card Games are perceived in today’s fast-changing world.
Upon creating an account for HEX: Shards of Fate, every player receives a starter pack of different cards that can be used in the player-versus-environment part of the game. Before you get to dive into the world of mythical lore and fantastical creatures, you will have to create a champion. You can then customize your character by choosing a race, class and certain talents - each combination has its distinct strengths and weaknesses. It’s up to you to come up with a battle strategy that will fit your hero’s equipment. Speaking of items: Playing through different missions and taking on boss monsters will reward you with valuable prizes and additional cards, all of which can be traded with other players. The quality of a card is connected to its rarity: While common items are good to begin with, legendary cards will give you an advantage in later stages of the free-to-play game.
Just like in any old MMORPG, you have the chance to either play with friends or battle against other players. HEX: Shards of Fate features plenty of PvE content. That means that you can group up with other champions, play through the main storyline and test out your collective power in various dungeons. Joining a guild will grant you the opportunity to even go on raids - something that has never been possible in traditional card games like Magic: The Gathering or Hearthstone.
